We would like to welcome you to Scarborough’s newest addition to the beachfront, The Sandbar Scarborough Beach (formerly Zanders Restaurant).
The Sandbar is locally owned and operated by Ben Randall, and our team of approximately 45 employees. Ben has spent the last 12 years at his family owned and operated pub, The Paddington Alehouse, which his family has operated for over 25 years. He has been fortunate enough to grow up in and experience first-hand this amazing industry.
At The Sandbar, community involvement is what we are all about. Our team always puts the needs of the community first – and, being locally owned and operated, we know what is needed to accomplish this. We believe that our customers are the ones who make and define a venue, and we certainly hope to be remembered as the best venue in Scarborough.
Our aim is to help put Scarborough Beach back on the world map…where it belongs! With the redevelopment of the Rendezvous Esplanade and the impending upgrade of the foreshore, Scarborough Beach will soon become Western Australia’s premier tourist attraction. New restaurants and bars, like The Sandbar, will be open for trade from the early hours until late into the night, attracting tourists from all over the globe.
Scarborough’s First Beach Bar & Restaurant
On 1 August 2013, our team took over Zanders Scarborough and Torch Bar, and began implementing changes straight away. The plan was to create a new brand, with a new food menu, beer list, wine list, and cocktail list. Most importantly, a new name – which was chosen by the local community, and our logo, which we hope will be with us for many years to come.
At The Sandbar Scarborough Beach our offerings are diverse yet simple – wood fired pizzas, craft tap beer, award winning wines, cocktails (selected by our staff), and of course, friendly service.
The Sandbar has a ‘no bookings’ policy. Large bookings of 15pax or more are accepted but large bookings must be made directly through the Venue Manager firstname.lastname@example.org

At The Sandbar Scarborough Beach, we employ over 30 staff from all over the world. They are friendly and understand what the Scarborough community is all about.
Ben Randall – Owner
Ben has over 12 years’ experience in hospitality. Originally from The Paddington Alehouse in Mount Hawthorn.
Tash Page - Venue Manager
Tash has over 10 years’ experience in hospitality. Tash has recently joined us from Wolf Lane where she was Venue Manager for over 18 months.
Brenainn Metcalfe – Head Chef
Brenainn has over 17 years’ experience in hospitality. He was a pizza chef for 4 years, then a sous chef for 2 years. He has been our head chef for the past 2 years.
Lindsay Janisse - Senior Restaurant Manager
Lindsay has over 10 years of experience in hospitality. She is from Canada where she managed a very popular restaurant and bar in London, Ontario for 3 years prior to moving to Perth in November 2013
Tomoyo Okuo – Assistant Restaurant Manager
Tomoyo has over 20 years’ experience in hospitality. Originally from Japan, Tommy has managed restaurants for the past 10 years.
Aladin Karcher - Assistant Restaurant Manager
Aladin has over 8 years of experience in hospitality. Originally from France, Aladin has been managing venues for the past 4 years
Ross Westlake – Bar Manager
Ross has over 8 years experience in hospitality. He is from Cornwall in England. Ross joined our team in December 2013 from The George in the Perth CBD where he was a bar supervisor
